This week’s featured track is “Pestilence” from the album “Apocalyptic Metaphors”. As previously mentioned, Most SOM tracks start out with an audio experiment. This one began with the idea of using the voice through a microphone as a modulation source within a Dave Smith Instruments Evolver synthesizer. The dark, trashy underlying drone that permeates most of the piece is the result of this experiment. This is an oppressive and bleak sonic exploration meant to induce the essence of Pestilence.
This week’s featured track is “New Nightmare” from our debut album Enigma. This piece is representative of the dark ambient sci-fi aspect of Static of Masses. The primary audio clip is a sample of Issac Asimov speaking at a NASA symposium from November of 1972.
