Bio - Static of Masses

Static of Masses combines elements of dark ambient, industrial and other forms of experimental music to create a dark, apocalyptic abyss.

Greg Watkins and Mark Brown began sonic collaborations around 2008 in Odessa Texas, and began performing in the Texas underground experimental industrial scene around the state in 2015. Notable events include Deep Ellum Industrial Fest, Dallas Ambient Music Nights, and a series of dates with electro-Industrial veterans Hocico in 2016. Static of Masses self released an EP titled “Are you Still Asleep” in the summer of 2015 and followed up with the first full length album “Enigma” in June of 2016.

Static of Masses continued performing in 2017 and 2018 including an appearance at the Convergence festival #23. 

“Apocalyptic Metaphors” was released in May of 2017.

During the summer of 2019, Static of Masses contributed a remix of Hocico’s track “Artificial Extinction” for the remix album “Rextinction”.

October 31st, 2019 saw the official release of our latest album “Exorcizando Eiciunt Daemonia” on Doomsday’s Today Records, available on bandcamp.com and through various distributors. In December of 2019, we contributed a track titled “Rue d’Auseil” to the compilation album “Occult Realm” on the Big Cypress Swamp label. 

The global events of 2020 slowed the live performances to a halt, but compositional work continued. several compilation contributions including 2020’s Big Cypress Swamp release “The Abyss Within” with the track “A Thousand Prayers” and Music Analysis and Discussion’s release of the “MAD I” comp and the track “Defibrillation”.

2021 included a remix of the track “Il Re Grigio Cupo” for Dallas based Neo/Martial legends Awen, as well as an EP of short improvisational tracks and a couple of unreleased tracks dating back to 2008/2009 entitled “e0f9wp k4r9w 9e k9jr f0j650p“.

In 2022 we contributed the track “Hungry Rats” to the “MAD II” compilation. Most of these tracks can be found on the “Noise” page of this website.

2023 marked a return to the stage for a reboot of Deep Ellum Industrial Nights in Dallas. The set included material from previous albums and a few new tracks which will appear on the forthcoming new album “Apotheosis Insidious”.
